August 2010 Newsletter

Not only did the Romans give us the term Dog Days of Summer, they are also responsible for the month of August. The Roman Senate named August in honor of Julius grandnephew after Augustus' defeat of Marc Antony and Cleopatra. To ensure no snub was given to Caesar himself, the Senate required the month of August have 31 days just as July does. To quote Paul Harvey, "And now you know the rest of the story."

July Recap:
Good bye Dogs Days of Summer; see you next year!!! Hopefully you are taking with you the extremely high electric bills from our favorite local utilities. So many fun things happened this month. We held our annual 4th of July buffet and enjoyed great tunes courtesy of DJ Dean. One of our favorite staff members celebrated a milestone birthday. We've seen a strong upswing in hot guys using our gym facilities. In fact, several guys have complimented the workout environment saying we beat the "Fitness" brother: LA and Planet. Not a gym member, call Frank and schedule your personal gym tour and we'll happily welcome you into our family.

This Month:
AUGUST MEANS FRESH MEAT, err FRESHMEN! Thousands of newly legal gay guys will be descending onto local college campus (Rollins, Stetson, UCF and Valencia). In preparation for these new arrivals, we've decided to do a second round of improvements to the Club. All carpeting will be replaced, except the gym area, on August 2nd and 3rd. The wet area will be closed from August 9th until August 11th in order to replace the shower room floor. This area will also be repainted during the closure. We realize this may prohibit you from enjoying some of your favorite Club areas, but we want to make sure that we remain on "top" of our game. Danny had to leave for Germany early to get back to school, so we're having a "BACK TO SCHOOL BLUES PARTY" August 12th from 8am until midnight with 4hr ½ price cubicles along with the 4hr $8.00 locker special. We have all your playtime supplies, just ask one of our friendly staff and they'll be happy to hook you up. Don't Miss Out!!!

Our Gym Guru (Our Favorite Gym HOTTIE):
Are you ready to Start Bodyweight Training?

Now is the perfect time to start your bodyweight exercise training, why? Maybe it's because you are concerned about your overall health. Maybe because you are getting a little older and worried about staying fit and having energy, like you did when you were younger. But whatever is causing your interest in bodyweight exercise now is the time to begin your workout routine. There are three very convincing reasons why now, not later is the perfect time to begin your bodyweight exercise workout. These three reasons are even more convincing why you should not put off your decision to exercise until "whenever."

All ages and fitness levels can do bodyweight exercises. So, there are no excuses for not beginning your bodyweight exercises now. You can be 18 or 80 and still be able to perform many of these exercises easily and effectively. It doesn't matter what kind of "shape" you are in; whether a diehard couch potato or a tri-athlete you can perform bodyweight exercises and still be challenged but the variety of exercises available.

Bodyweight exercises build overall endurance, flexibility and strength. Some bodyweight exercises even build all through in just one exercise. What other exercise can make this claim?

Strength is defined as, "the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power, vigor. By utilizing the variety of positions and exercises available all forms of strength are created throughout your body.

Endurance is the ability to use your strength for as long as possible and with bodyweight exercises you create ability for your body to use your strength longer. You build within your muscles, joints and tendons as well as whole body the ability necessary to do more than just have instant bursts of strength, but to have prolonged periods which help you in many daily tasks as well as have more fun participating in sports and other activities.

Flexibility is also known as limber, pliant or adaptable. Bodyweight exercises elongate muscles while creating strength and endurance. The use of stretching exercises or calisthenics teach your body to be able to move in ways more healthy and fun.

Thirdly, you should begin bodyweight exercises now to make the most of the benefits. Bodyweight exercises benefit both your body and mind. They make you healthier both physically and mentally. You will be more physically fit, have more energy and have a better view of life by using bodyweight exercises.

Endorphins are produced when you exercise. These chemicals are naturally produced in your body through this type of activity and increase your energy level, provide you mentally with more positive outlook as well as help you sleep better.

By beginning bodyweight exercises now, you can improve your overall health by becoming more physically fit and reducing your body fat. With the reduction of body fat, your body will appear more attractive and toned. A healthier body and reduction of body fat can also lead to reducing your risks for certain diseases such as heart disease, obesity, stroke, and diabetes. Regular exercise such as bodyweight training also reduces your risk of injury due to other activities and increases your body's ability to heal from injuries.

No other exercise routine can provide you with these reasons for beginning right now. Many require a certain level of familiarity with exercise, others you need to be young to do. With many other training programs you have to wait to begin, until you purchase the right equipment or schedule a trainer. With bodyweight exercises you build long lasting strength, flexibility and endurance and decrease your risks for disease while increasing your appearance and energy and you can do it right now, no waiting or scheduling is needed. You can start your new exercise routine right this minute and begin a new life full of energy and health.

Looking Ahead:
September: Labor Day marks the official end of summer 2010. As is our custom, we'll be having one of our Chef Mocha catered poolside parties with good food and hot tunes.

October: The pool boy (aka Randy) will be hosting a Leather Party here at the Club. That's all we're going to say about it at the moment, but it WILL DEFINITELY be the place for HOT FUN.

On a side note:
Ryn and Bill both recently accepted a full time positions within the corporate world and due to scheduling could not remain with The Club. We wish then both well and hope that the BlackBerry and security badge were worth the price of their souls. :D
